Why is Google running print ads in Turkey?

(click ad, via) And, to expand that question: why is Google running such bizarre print ads in Turkey? Battlesheep? (world's quietest "ha") Maybe it's a Turkish nuance that's lost in translation? update: In the US, if you search 'battlesheep," you get 10,000+ hits and no alternative suggestions. Here's two more ads in the campaign, by Grey Istanbul. Related: When Jason Binn used to Google himself, the first thing he read was: Jason Binn is a Prick: The Evidence.

Amusingly enough, Google doesn't offer an alternate spelling if you search for "battlesheep." There are nearly 7,000 results.

this is a part of a campaign, try battlesheep, jetleg, and astronut.

apparently google makes funny pics of misspelled stuff appear whenever you enter these words(that's why there's no "did you mean etc. etc.?")

there's nothing lost in translation, just making fun of misspelling (by the turks of course :D)

Why is Google running ads about English language typos in Turkey? Do typos not happen in Arabic? Sure, a lot of people will speak English there, but the level you'd need to understand this gag without it being explained is exceptional.

I wonder if these ads are even going to be run there, or if they're only doing it for the online buzz in the English speaking world?
