my car is a woman, my right foot is my penis.

(click ad) Sex and car advertising have of course been diddling each other for decades. Here though, via BBDO Greece, is a particularly shamelessly sexist ad (quite young, isn't she?) for pre-soiled BMWs that goes 0 to 69 in one second flat. Speaking of 69... related: car dealership ads are a gift from Satan.

UGH! That's so disgusting. If it were an old hag, it might be slightly humorous, but when you show an underage girl and say "you know you're not the first" you're just WRONG.

That copywriter should be fired.

Anonymous, should we fire the art director too? And the account exec? And the client who signed off? Make a list please.

Anyway, the girl isn't necessarily underage. Under MY age, yes, by miiiiiles. But not underage per se.

I dunno, it made me laugh. I hereby declare this ad decent!

Well let's say she turned eighteen yesterday. That's still pretty old, for a second hand car.

Copyranter,

You're not a writer until someone says you are. Your personal profile betrays you.

She's slightly buck-toothed as well. Guess she's too young to already have been through braces.

Who gives a shit if she's got buck teeth? It's objectification, and while part of me appreciates the idea, the rest of me is annoyed.

What is this ad saying? Who slept with this 10 year old already? Her father? This ad personally disturbs me because the model looks almost identical to my 10 year old cousin. That's right, my cousin in *4th grade*. She's pretty, so she's probably been around!

I'm grossed out but also confused.

Man gets no cherry, goes buy car?

Man gets laid by tartlett, goes buy car?

Man gets...oh fuck it, just go buy the car.

Photoshop anybody? A clearly chopped ad whose origins are a book cover:

this is really out of touch with the high-brow sophistication i expect of BMW.

I get it. A used BMW looks like a virgin even after years of abuse. No big deal.

to anonymous at 4:41—I'm not sure if you're trying to say that the ad was faked, not a real BMW ad. But in any case, the reason it looks exactly like the book cover you link to is that they both utilize the same stock photography.

And I'd like to cast a vote for the ad being completely misogynistic and disgusting. I suppose ad execs don't think women buy cars.

So this ad annoyed me so much I had to get in contact with BMW...it turns out that its def a fake.

BMW have said the ad "has no direct affliation with BMW" that as a company they understand why people would be offended by it and would never endorse it.

There's no such thing as bad PR... so while BMW may deny, deny, deny - why aren't they suing whomever is SLANDERING their business!!!

Hey I saw what you posted about the bmw ad in greece...too funny i a bout wet my pants when i saw it! I know that model! she was only 16 when she shot those for a stock photography firm!
the caption "you know your not the first" could possibly be more fitting knowing her.

toooo funny! finding this

@Kathy: Great idea! Let's sue everyone who uses a computer since someone of them had to create this ad...

Anyway, it's a fun ad so why this "disgusting"-part? Even though it may not be true, it still get its message out.

"Who slept with this 10 year old already?"

Wow, ten years old? That's a pretty serious amount of environmental estrogens she's suffered with to make her look like she's in her late teens to early twenties when she's only ten. I hear that can increase the risk of type II diabetes. Poor girl.

In other news, your tendency towards hyperbole makes you look ridiculous.
