Women—wanna get ahead in business? You gotta wear 5" fuck-me pumps.

(click ads, via)
Deichmann, headquartered in Essen, Germany, is the largest seller of shoes and sportswear in Europe, according to Wikipedia. 180 centimeters is about 5' 11". I would like to see some research on that "80% of top managers" claim. Anyway, 5' 6" females? What do you value more? Your career? Or your feet? And females under 5' 6", well you're going to have to wear stripper heels (like these, with a built-in tip slot) to work to succeed. Ad agency: Grey Worldwide, Germany. The creative team on this campaign was women, btw.
Previous sexist fuck-me pumps post: Harvey Nichols ad insinuates that the higher the heels you wear, the studlier guy you get.

Pumps. What a strage word, if you think about it. Pumps. Say it out loud: pumps, pumps, pumps. It's funny. Can also mean 'farts'. We do not use the word here in the UK when referring to shoes, except as an alternative to plimsolls. So 'fuck-me' pumps does not really work, unless you get turned on by plimsolls.

As for the ad - in my opinion the line should be 'Go Get 'Em', rather than 'Go Get Them'.

Essen is a boring depressing place, like these ads. The 2nd one especially -- it's kind of hard to stab someone with something that thick.

they're probably referencing this: http://research.stlouisfed.org/publications/regional/05/04/appearance.pdf
but I also found this: http://www.stlouisfed.org/publications/re/articles/?id=362 via the wikipedia article on height discrimination.
Incidentally I'm 6'3" and I work at a corner store.. probably shouldn't have gone for that Painting and Drawing B.A..

needless to say, these ads never ran. deichmann is more of a dull client. then again...

oh, btw - germans speak german. so here's your explanation, axel.

this campaign done by women alone? hardly. the deichmann account is usually run by a mixed team in duesseldorf.

My favorite part is how they have a citation.
