Today's ad that'll make art directors touch their genitals.

(click ad, via) Very literal creative masturbation that will do literally nothing to curb domestic violence in the UK. Might win JWT London—who produced the ad pro bono, I'm sure—some awards though, so there's that. Yay, pathetic industry.

Did you get the "creative masturbation" line from a comment left on aotw?

So does this mean you're coming around to my belief that the anti-violence ad you called the most powerful you've seen was also "creative masturbation" as it too will never be seen except at awards shows & on YouTube?
Which I still say is not the same as TV, because with TV, the ad just shows up, usually around 3AM & you have to passively sit through it, close your eyes & mute it or leave the room, while with YouTube, you must actively seek it out.

PSAs must be acceptable to TV station managers who are extremely cowardly when it comes to pushing the envelope.

Of course almost all PSAs are done to win awards. I've done them. But with that video, while it won't do much of anything to stop domestic violence, it's so emotional, it MIGHT make some who see it get involved in DM organizations. I'm just too lazy to explain such things most of the time.

Is it the way I'm reading into it, or does "Don't suffer at the hands of a partner" hint at blaming the victims of domestic violence?

It's set up as if suffering at the hands of a partner is a choice for most of the people experiencing domestic violence.

Yes, there's also that that's wrong with the ad.
