City fountain runs blood red to promote "True Blood" in Romania.

Well, more like lollipop red, but still pretty cool. Done last week to promote the fourth season of a show I've never watched. I don't know the city, most probably Bucharest. Certainly better than this confusing True Blood vampire umbrellas stunt staged last year in New Zealand. Ad agency: Unknown.
Update: Done! For Dexter three years ago.
Update: Also Done in Bucharest last year (same fountain?) to promote Hemophilia awareness. Probably where they got the idea from.

The agency probably didn't know about the Dexter stunt. They must have known, however, about this: http://tinyurl.com/42ej6ll.

Same idea, different context.

The one for Dexter in Philadelphia was hilariously bad timing. They did it just as the Phillies went on their playoff run in 2008. So thousands of people posed next to a bright red fountain in Center City Philadelphia and everyone assumed 'Wow, the city did all this for our favorite baseball team!' Message got totally lost.

Six Flags has been turning their water rides water red for their October Fright Fests for at least 15 years.

I saw the fountains like that in Bucharest a couple of years ago. You could view a long line of them from Ceausescu's Palace.
