American tourist, face covered in ash, attempts to swim to safety as the Eyjafjallajokull volcano continues to erupt behind him.

Poster for Iceland Air (click it for closer look) snapped on an uptown F train last night. Meanwhile, no end to the ash in sight. Previously in: badly timed travels ads.

It's O-KKK to visit the USA with the right travel guide.
Vegas. All the fun of New York without the hot garbage smell.

While this had me cracking up, I hope it's tongue in cheek. You do know this is an add for the Blue Lagoon, right?

It's not ash on his face, actually. It's silica mud, which lines the floor of the Blue Lagoon.

I'm a little late to this, but was just researching the pronunciation and stumbled on it. Well apparently those 18 years as a New York ad copywriter taught him nothing about researching before ranting. I hope for his sake he doesn't act like this at his job. But then maybe that's why some advertising is so bad, while some is astoundingly good. I've been to the Blue Lagoon, and it's a place worth visiting, not to mention that the volcano in question is south-central Iceland, and both it and it's ash plume are far from Iceland-US air corridors or the best tourism in Iceland in the eastern third of the country, including the Blue Lagoon. (And I hope the blog author has the gusto & sense of humor to take a little heat, and posts this comment.)
