dom may be a grade A sleazebag and these ads certainly are sexist, etc., but goddamn he has pretty good taste in women. he should work with the people at jacques magazine in nyc, if they're still around...
I'd be upset, too, if I had to wear high-waisted pants in a color called "baby-poop."
So many copywriters reading this blog (and one running it), and yet no one thinks there is something wrong with the text of this ad. Why? Show men tits and they ignore everything else.
Let's examine the text.
Photographed in Spain by our South African-born photographer, wearing our classic Riding Pant in Safari Brown.
1) You don't have to say South African-born. South African already implies that the person was born in South Africa. You could also say South Africa-born. Who cares, by the way, where he was born?
2) Who is wearing the pants? The photographer or Steffi [Graf]? Steffi [Graf], of course, would say Copyranter. Based on what we see in the ad, yes, it is Stefi [Graf] who's wearing the pants. However, read that text to a blind person and they may think that the photographer, who was born in South Africa, was photographing Steffi while wearing those pants.
3)Though it is acceptable to say Safari Pant, I still prefer Pants.
