The worst commercial of the year?
That's what tipster TJ's email subject line was. He may be right: that ending joke is just lovely. Heck of a way to sell fucking shampoo. The thought went through my mind that this was a parody spot. No, it's real, from the P&G brand. The idiotic mook YouTube commenters love it. Anybody know the ad agency?
Via good copy/bad copy.

impossible. it's a parody.
The agency is the Sigma Group, Oradell, N.J. I was thinking about telling you about this campaign myself.
Read about the campaign below. The title of the article - Shampoo to Match a No-Nonsense Attitude - is kinda ironic because the campaign itself is pure nonsense. There is a print ad on the page. "When you listen to bull all day, you need a shampoo that isn't". And "Next time, I'll recommend a good breath mint". Incredibly stupid. The copy must have been written by a recent graduate.

It appears to be the work of an agency called Sigma Group. Campaign also includes a print piece with the headline "When you listen to bull all day you need a shampoo that isn't" (image of joe cubicle with a bulldog's head) - the strategy here mystifies me.

The same agency also did this other equally moronic (and derivative) campaign for Brut. Yep, the now trite "man up!" thing.

Definitely not a parody. Saw it on TV and subsequently shit myself.
> to sell f#cking shampoo
:-) they now sell shampoo for f&cking? :-)
I-)
I don't even... How is this supposed to work, exactly? Nothing about this ad makes any sense.
The segue from "failed birthday gift" to "impressing your lady with regular grooming" might be the worst I've ever heard. And then they try to set up this contrast between the two guys, but it's like comparing oranges and hurricanes. And the production values, and that terrible "joke" at the end...
Did a sixth grader make this ad as a school project? That's the only plausible explanation.
so bad. Old Spice don't realise what they've done.
Two measly posts from yesterday. We deserve more.
I don't know if this is relevant to you - but I thought these were pretty damn awesome.
A genie bell *and* a tiger growl to accompany that shower wink? Why not throw an "ah-OO-gah" horn in there as well.
Ah yes: the "ah-OO-gah" horn...staple of local radio ads.
Honestly, I don't think it's that terrible - Seems that this ad is making fun of ads in general by being so obvious it's cheesy. A little entertaining, and breaks through the clutter.
Remember this?

Certainly, this Pert ad wasn't as successful, but I've seen worse... that is, if I correctly guessed their tactic.
