Slow-ass news day forces copyranter to cover Calgary condo ad controversy.

(click image) How cute, Cowtown has their very own little sexist ad flap (If you look up, way up, you might see the flap! Haha, shut-up.) Travis Gertz (pictured) and his wife found this ad for The Montana condo development offensive to women, reports the Calgary Herald. The creative director at the stupid agency that created the stupid ad responded: "It was meant to be tongue-in-cheek (ass cheek!). We knew it was racy, but it wasn't meant to offend anyone." OK then! Let's all now move on to other things in our lives. Previous stops on the sexist real estate ad tour: D.C. Chicago. And of course New York.

What made it actually awful (because it seems to be used as justification for being so lamely sexist) is that they're announcing $1000 donations to a Canadian womens' rights group with every condo purchase. i'm pretty sure it's also in reference to an old, popular canadian children's show called 'the friendly giant' where the main catchphrase in the intro was "look up, look waaaaay up!"

i think that makes it even worse.

What made it awful to me was the only guy complaining is, shockingly, trying to make a name for himself. Great way to get your mug in the paper and make everyone think you are some sort of champion of justice without actually doing anything.
