Embassy Suites ad inadvertently poignant.

The ones with kidney failure certainly don't. Scanned from this week's New Yorker. Calculating when the story first broke (the first death was on September 7th, about a week later, the 3 major network evening news programs reported it), Embassy had plenty of time to pull the ad. Instead, they get to look idiotic.

R&R, minus R&B.

Gimmee a fucking break. It's a stupid ad, but since when are you one of those PC thugs who demands an ad get pulled because of unrelated current events? Not all spinach comes from a bag, genius. Because a handful of people get sick, we should ban Popeye?

I bet you scoffed at the people who got angry at Conan O'Brien's thing at the Emmy's about the plane crash. You mocked those oversensitive pansies; and I extend that mocking to you.

I don't think I'm being over-sensitive. They simply should have replaced it with another ad in the campaign for now. Easy thing to do.

Don't forget the remarkable stupidness of the headline.

ha, PC thug? the nature of the businesss is how the material reaches the audience - if people see the ad and think "damn, e.coli", it's probably not going to help things much. It's not hard for them to call in another ad - it's not like magazines will turn away the only thing that keeps them in existence.

I love how their circles compliment your sites design. Don't lie, I know that's really why you put this up - the whole spinach thing was just a coincidence.

The good thing about E Coli is that it helps people lose weight. Just like eating spinach!

If we ban Popeye, where does it end? Does Foghorn get bounced next?

I won’t have it. I just won’t.

Popeye is a metaphor for 1930's morphine addiction:

(-) 'Spinach' delivering super powers.
(-) "I'll glady pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today."
(-) The whole single mother Olive Oyl and bastard child Swee Pea thing.

But it's funny in a Darwin-istic sort of way that Natural Selection Foods, LLC is responsible for an ecoli outbreak. Maybe Embassy supports that perspective?
