"This bunch of unelected self-appointed dimwits are clearly incapable of fairly and impartially ruling on advertising."

The headline is a quote from Ryanair's head of communications, Peter Sherrard, in response to the UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) banning this saucy (albeit stupid) print ad last week by the European airline. This here is the type of quote we need to hear more often over here in the U.S. from communications professionals. Bravo! And here's something saucy the stodgy ASA can't ban—the Ryanair 2009 bikini calendar! The "charity" (snicker) calendar is supposedly made up of Ryanair employees—most photographed with unsubtle phallic imagery. It also includes a juvenile swipe at one of their competitors, Aer Lingus (above right). Well, I've flown the Irish airline a couple of times, and this visual is a gross misrepresentation of their attendants. (thanks to Loren Bolstridge for the calendar) previously in slutty calendars: the 2008 Coffin Cuties Necrophilia Calendar.

I have a real problem with these ads: they're NOT SLUTTY ENOUGH.
They're not "ads" Archimedes.
"unelected self-appointed?"
"fairly and impartially?"
I'm more concerned with Captain Redundancy over there.
