A very graphic anti-prostitution video (nsfw).

(via osocio)
Nothing can make a man feel like what it feels like to be a female prostitute. But this video via the European Women's Lobby gives it a good go. What do you think, men and women? If you're going to leave a wise-ass comment, please be wise about it. Agency: Black Moon Productions. Here's five previous sex trafficking awareness ads from around the world.

Don't want to be too much of a smart arse here, but what's the difference between that and say any other shit job that you could choose? From my point of view, this ad doesn't tackle the real problem concerning prostitution: free will!
Sure it's very graphic and therefore makes you puke a little inside but does it really make a valid point? Not sure...

I can appreciate the shock attempt, but I don't think it goes far enough. It's a powerful message, and somehow, it gets lost in a clumsy montage. It's like caffeine-free Aronofsky.

there is also the human trafficking side of 'free will' and prostitution.

putting aside all the great wise ass comments that i just have to save for another time, this is a good ad. it makes the point. my take away is that the clients get the satisfaction, but for the employee, it is just a job...

I-)

Where's the pimp? I'm entirely serious. Otherwise, we are missing the believability - the guttural reaction that truly mirrors female prostitution. He is being forced into this profession? By who? By what economic standard? Come on. Incidentally, why just oral? That's just another cheap trick to get a rise out of the viewer.

Well, It is a very shocking video (or at least it is for me), but personally think that the problem it attacks (no more prostitution) is not the real problem, but it should be that it needs to be regulated.
Appart from that, I don't think it will make a real change but just a shock, specially for the graphic part, but not to much from the message, but it does bring it into a different perspective for men.

By the way, cool blog.

His bohemian appearance suggests a sensitive, caring, cunning linguist with a voracious penchant for seafood, blessed with an abnormally long tongue and able to breathe through his ears!

I'm bothered by the exclusive focus on oral sex that prettyhedgehog pointed out. I think the ad's writers went that way out of a concern that some men viewing an ad about intercourse would think "Ten times a day? That's awesome!"

But the effect of the ad's exclusive focus on one sex act is to reinforce the too-widespread notion that performing cunnilingus is gross and degrading. I think they could have achieved a similar effect without that subtext by showcasing a variety of sex acts.

@ burke

Sorry about your Agoraphobia and homely, misshapen features.

Merry Christmas to you anyway. Call me!

In all honesty it would have been more effective with a pegging scene and some type of bodyguard/pimp character to get across the point that there could be a dangerous element on top of the intense degradation, and it's not all enduring the 'ew' factor.

Quoting anon above: "But the effect of the ad's exclusive focus on one sex act is to reinforce the too-widespread notion that performing cunnilingus is gross and degrading. I think they could have achieved a similar effect without that subtext by showcasing a variety of sex acts."

On top of that, I've been a male prostitute since college for both men and women and it's nothing like it's depicted here. Sure there are bad sides to prostitution, but elimination is not the answer, nor is it feasible.
