Great nationwide anti-Obama ambient ad campaign.

(image, via)
Reuters, January 10—In an historical political move, the marketing team of Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney has launched a diabolical nationwide public bathroom advertising campaign against President Barack Obama.
An anonymous Romney spokesperson says the hot air hand dryer stickers have been placed in most major airport restrooms and hundreds of McDonald's and Denny's locations around the nation. When asked how they worked out such an unusual media buy, the spokesperson simply said, "no comment," insinuating that this is an illegal guerrilla effort.
The campaign is receiving much praise by media pundits—unlike Romney's anti-Obama video, which was roundly derided.

This is great! Although, to be fair, the word "President" could be replaced with "a typical politician."

Still, the stunt totally gets our president. Whoa.

I'm pretty sure that "message from our President" could still win a debate with any of those GOP candidates.

And now we will see competing stickers from the Obama people when the GOP finds its candidate.
Ultimately, they shoot themselves in the foot.

False and misleading advertising.

I've never used any hot air hand driers that constantly pause/restart and hummmmmm!!!

So it's not the content so much that bothers me about Pres. BO but his delivery.

If Romney and the rest of the GOP idiots spent as much time educating themselves on the issues as they do on besmirching the sitting president, then maybe they'd have a viable candidate by now.

I tried to think of a witty sticker involving the current contenders for Republican presidential candidate, to be placed above the flusher-handle-thingy, but I couldn't come up with anything.

How about:

If it's yellow, let it mellow.

If it's Repub-brown, flush it down.

Oh, lighten up posters. This is both funny and it actually works as a campaign. Have a sense of humor; Obama is still going to win.

Interesting guerrilla placement.

Although if they are "unauthorized", that explains why they are purely anti-Obama and not identified in any way with Romney. This could be seen as being for any Republican candidate.

The anonymous Romney spokesman is obviously no Romney spokesman at all. If he is, his candidate's operation is violating FEC laws.

Not to be pedantic, but there are no disclaimers, and the FEC is very serious about their disclaimers, which must be "Clear and Conspicuous."

This is clever guerrilla marketing (AKA vandalism). It changes zero votes.

Great great great. If graduate school serves me well (which is rarely), I think this is called détournement.

But I call BS on the Reuters story.

The version regarding the GOP nominee will have to rent out space above a cow's rectum, in order to be accurate.

appears to be defacement of property, which is not protected speech, but common vandalism and a crime

Funny is funny! This one is very clever, and deserves props even from a lefty like me. I must add that you could not use this visual to describe our previous president, unless it shorted out every five to ten seconds and blew smoke!

This vacuous but yes humorous bit of guerilla marketing will hit as hard as McCain's tire pressure gauges.

I'm pretty sure when you flush the toilet you hear a message from Romney about your job.

Please eat these beans and await a message from the GOP nominee.

How lame. This joke is at least as old as 1967, when as a kid I saw scrawled above a hand dryer at a Texas roadside rest stop "PUSH FOR SPEECH BY LBJ"....

so the great repug strategy is to deface public property? I guess Mitt Romney thinks he is part of a la jolla gang now?

That is so wrong. And yes, we wish we'd thought of it first.

Yeah, some cleverness of concept, and Obama isn't terrific but his current opponents are worse ... in any case, his critics are presumably mostly conservatives who say they value private property rights - and it may be petty, but such defacement is a form of vandalism - as noted by john paul jones. BTW I like Robotgas's quip.
