Last fall, it happened to Burger King in Seattle.

I used to live in Bristol years ago and about 75% of the billboards there get adbusted. It's unreal. It was so common at the time that I even busted a couple myself, even though it's kinda not my style.
Banksy was still living there at the time, too, so there was just rampant defacing gong on.
Indeed, there was rampant defacing gong on, not to mention bong defacing, known in Bristol as gong bongs.
