I think it's rad photo. And a noteworthy gesture. But what do I know...
Hoodie-hype aside. Everyone needs to chill the f**k out. No one was there except the kid, the guy and apparently a witness in a nearby window. Let the facts come out before wanted posters go up...oh too late for that. Oops.
There was also a gun there. And a broken nose ain't no excuse to blow somebody way, is it? Zimmerman is going to say whatever the fuck he can to get out of this, isn't he? Let me guess, the witness is a white person who knows Zimmerman. Oh yeah, that's right.
the best thing about someone wearing a hoodie is that they have limited peripheral vision - so they are very easy to sneak up on from the side. then you just stand there, and wait and see how long it takes for them to realize you are there. and watch them jump when they do.

Yes a gun that was legally obtained, was in fact present. Not sure if I would want to be a neighborhood watch guy without some type of weapon for protection.
In any case, the whole occurance is an outrage, but take a look at some of the other facts that surfaced since the event: Why use a picture of Trayvon from 5 years ago? Why use a photoshoped image of Trayvon (http://digg.com/newsbar/politics/trayvon_martin_s_doctored_hoodie_photo)? Why use a picture of Zimmerman looking like he's in a prison jumpsuit? Obviously to mold the media message to get the (forgive me) biggest bang for their buck.
None of these things help enlighten anyone as to what happened that night, because no one else was there.
I would admit Mr. Z should have stopped pursuit after 911 advised him to stop pursuit. On that piece of evidence, I just facepalmed at his stupidity.
And the gun nuts are circulating a photo of (not) Trayvon giving double middle fingers to the camera. He was suspended from school for pot possession, what a HORRIBLE crime.
When I was in college in the early eighties, the gay student union (or whatever they were called) put up signs telling us all to wear blue jeans on Monday to show solidarity with the gay cause (whatever that was).
I have to admit, wearing hoodies as a sign of solidarity (solidarity with what, I really don't know) isn't quite as stupid as that. But it's still pretty stupid.
The witness's account actually does not support Zimmerman's. She contacted police several times to give them her account, but they wouldn't take a report. Eventually she went to the media.
Look, we can't know Zimmerman's state of mind for certain. The outrage here is not just that an unarmed (and probably innocent) kid was killed. It's that the police refused to investigate, citing the "stand your ground" defense law. Self-defense is supposed to be a defense in court, after you've been charged, not something that deters the police from arresting and investigating you in the first place.
@Mitchell Showing solidarity and support isn't stupid. Pray you always have the support you need instead of soliciting it via the actions in this photo. I believe this is the entire problem here, Zimmerman has all the support he needs in this whacked out "Stand your Ground" law. However, a family whom's unarmed son was slain has seemingly no law supporting them. Again, I pray you're never in a situation like this where someone can walk around after chasing down, ignoring a request from the police dispatch, and finally shooting an unarmed teenager. And if you don't know what the hoodies were for then you should read up about the incident.

Sharpton said Martin's parents endured "insults and lies" Monday over reports that their son attacked Zimmerman.
Also Monday, an attorney for Martin's mother confirmed that she filed trademark applications for two slogans containing her son's name: "Justice for Trayvon" and "I Am Trayvon." The applications said the trademarks could be used for such things as DVDs and CDs.
The trademark attorney, Kimra Major-Morris, said in an email that Fulton wants to protect intellectual property rights for "projects that will assist other families who experience similar tragedies."
Asked if Fulton had any profit motive, the attorney replied: "None."

I've been showing my solidarity and support for the Trayvon cause, it's just that I don't do it by wearing something so nondescript as a hoodie.

Still waiting for Sharpton to apologize for adding fuel to the fire to the Crown Heights riots. Or the Tawana Brawley lies. Or for his phrase "Greek homos". Or that a Mormon cannot believe in "God".
Anytime Sharpton is involved you have to realize you are dealing with a racial bully.
At least the Unibomber has shown his solidarity.
