I hate kids.

Not YOUR kids, of course. Other people's. So, I've been laughing at this photo for, like, a week straight. It is fucking brilliant. And guess what? The photog, Tierney Gearon, is a women and a mother! And you wanna know something else? That's her mother in the mask—who's a schizophrenic manic-depressive! Art is Cool! (scanned from the November Black Book)
previously in Fuck You Friday:
1. Rolling Grass Thing.
2. The Horshack Rorschach.
23. Floating Bolton Head.

I'm not crazy about kids either. And I know they don't give two sh*ts about me. (although the little bitty ones are cute...sometimes)

Brilliant. Can we write a campaign to go with it? I'm thinking extra-absorbent Pampers, or a new spin on Gerber baby food: "Made by babies, for babies, OF BABIES!" Yummy.

Oh sure, cute when they're young. Bu then they only get bigger. Next thing you know they give you the finger on the way out the door to drive across country with the band.

Oh I've seen it a hundred times people.

A work of beauty. I'm wondering if the pose was accompanied by sinister movements and woohoohaa noises.

I think it's disgusting. No parentshould subject their children to torture for the sake of "art". If you want to be an artist, you shouldn't have to traumatize innocent babies for it. There's enough child abuse out there. I've always enjoyed your humor, so this is rather disappointing. Shame on your bloggers for agreeing with you and shame on you for being such a prick.

Yeah well I don't. It’s good training for the kid who’ll experience a life-saving Pavlovian response should he be faced with a skull-faced woman thing when he grows up. He should count himself lucky that he’s not being dangled from a balcony by some ghoulish pop singer.
But you’re right about the child abuse. Pity the millions of kids who have to put up with Halloween, the scary bit from Disney’s Snow White, things that go BANG, clowns, images of a man nailed to a cross (now that’s real abuse in my book), dead pets, fat bearded paedophiles who climb down chimneys once a year, the childcatcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the Wicked Witch of the East, road kill and the death of Bambi’s mother. And parents, don’t forget to turn off the TV news if Baby is awake.

you're an idiot...that child is probably 10 months old. There is a time and place to prepare children to face their fears. I don't think at 10 months old they are training him for anything. You're obviously not a parent, or if you are, DCFS should come knock on your door

Well go on then, put your money where your mouth is and complain, unless you'd rather take sanctimonious pops at people in blog comments that you can walk away from. You know where the pic is from.
Millions of people get away with far worse long-term abuses such as forcing religion down the throats of children and giving them a lifetime of delusional complexes.

I think you're projecting f-n-c, you must be a lapsed Catholic. Therapy works. Try it.

LOL actually a lapsed Greek Orthodox (seriously). Check out this site that boingboing flagged a couple of years ago - a gallery of children terrified of Santa. To adults Santa is a jolly man dressed up in Coca Cola colours, but it's funny and ok if the kiddies scream.

f-n-c, I'm going to have to call a truce because I'm a hypocrite. I have a similar picture of my son last year for his first (Greek Orthodox)Christmas!

I've actually read an interview with the artist. Her son was already crying, and her mother never showed him the mask. He was crying because that's what babies do, not because he thought some scary thing was coming to eat him.

So chill the hell out.

There is a fine documentary about Tierney Gearon.

Just type in Tierney Gearon: The Mother Project Documentary into a search engine.

Well, a search engine that allows this sort of thing.
