LEVI's Green Jeans ads: beautiful/depressing.

(click ads for closer look)
Did you see that Super Bowl XLII MVP Eli Manning won a Cadillac Escalade hybrid? YEAH, that there's a save-the-fucking-planet vehicle, alrighty. I've had my fill of absolute bullshit Green products, how 'bout you? No? Have you seen the Green vodka? Eco-marketing may be the slimiest movement ever to come down the scummy promotional pike (at least since the RED one).
So, on to the above campaign for Levi's Eco-jeans out of BBH Singapore. They're jeans made from 100% "organic" cotton. That's nice. My first impression of these ads—other than that they were beautifully designed—was that they offered a vision of our not-to-distant future: all of us humans dead and gone with weeds growing through our trendy, not-yet-disintegrated eco-clothing. Hey, let's hope dreamy Adrian Grenier will be wearing Eco-jeans (and sexy Green underwear) in his earth-saving TV series The Green Life. Every little bit helps. barely related: the original Mr. Green Jeans from the Captain Kangaroo TV show.

Sorry, but this is a little too "Wizard of Oz unstuffed scarecrow" for me.

Well sick of the Green Theme, yes.

Like Red, you can only play it so long before it reveals itself for the scam that it is.

All these Green Teamers need to visit Bhopal or Shanghai for a week and go, "Holy fuck. My jeans will never clean up this mess. In fact, if every person ever born in the history of Earth wore green jeans, this place would still be a mess. But what the hell, I feel good about myself now. I love you, Levi's."

These ads are all wrong. Where's the smug. self-satisfied asshole wearing the jeans?

Actually, I wore green jeans in the 80's. (When I wasn't wearing Zubaz.)

So wait, they're only "green" because they're made from "organic" cotton? Leaving aside the fact that "organic" can mean all kinds of things that are far from environmentally friendly, they're still presumably made in Chinese factories, no doubt belching out solid coal plumes filled with lead and arsenic and kryptonite. REAL green!

This immediately brought to mind that Soylent Green really is people.
