Rich man, mugged for his expensive watch, appears in ad for expensive watch.
(click ad, via) That's 80-year-old Formula One racing boss Bernie Ecclestone—who once said "women should be dressed in white, like all the other domestic appliances"—in a new ad for Hublot watches running in today's Financial Times and International Herald Tribune. The ad was Bernie's idea—he rang the company. His watch was valued at £200,000. He was attacked by four muggers. I love that their tagline, "The Art of Fusion," appears right below his beaten mug, in red. This may be the first testimonial ad I've ever not hated. Related: is this the ugliest watch in history? Related: the Trump "signature" watch is fucking unreadable.

Another HILARIOUS Ecclestone quote - "[A]part from the fact that Hitler got taken away and persuaded to do things that I have no idea whether he wanted to do or not, he was in the way that he could command a lot of people, able to get things done."
A positive thing about the ad is that it lets you see Eccelstone beaten into a pulp.
Will the Swatch group now follow with a runoff campaign using Ecclestone's mug to extoll the safe and simple pleasure of wearing their watch?
Did anyone else at first glance read "F1™ KING POWER" as "FUCKING POWER"? That's actually what I want in a watch.
I'm sure that is no accident.
Dammit, I wanted to be first with the "Fucking Power" comment... oh well...
