Horse's Ass over Manhattan.

Have you heard of the new underground phenomenon sweeping the world called streethorsing? No? Well that's "music tastemaker" Steve DJ Kid Millionaire (sometimes aka Kid Thousand) Aoki, son of Rocky "Benihana" Aoki, "streethorsing" (cough. photoshopped.) over a Ford Ranchero over the DKNY billboard over the corner of Houston and Broadway over NYC. It's a handpainted billboard for Lafayette St. clothing store WESC (WE are the Superlative Conspiracy. Yes. Yes, you are.). Here, Aoki models "Clay", the world's first streethorsing jacket (will take their word for that. looks like a tracksuit to me.). It's a shot from a book called "Horse Play: A Streethorsing Retrospective" currently ranked 1,359,436 on Amazon. Coolhunting says about the book, which also features photos of Mark "gardensnake" Hunter and Jason Lee, "Whether or not the obscure subculture actually exists, the tome is filled with unbelievable photos of horses doing skateboard-like tricks..."
I have only one thing to add to that: I will give 100 bucks to the first Tagger/Bomber who defaces this horse's ass. Write me.

1. a small price to pay for a big package.

I'm lost.

Is anything you said above real? WESC really stands for that? Hay Zeus.

Is that guy the son of the founder of Benihana? I always wondered why that kid was pictured everywhere - he's a damn heiress.

And by horse's ass, are you referring to Aoki.. or the horse?

unfortunately, it's all real.

yes, son of Rocky Aoki.

Aoki. In person, his air of self-importance actually has an odor.

Considering a horse was recently gutted while jumping over a yellow cab in Queens (the result of an inexperienced young rider and a frantic animal, not a "streethorsing" extravaganza), I have to say I find this ad to be in remarkably bad taste.

But then... was I expecting *good* taste from the Benihana empire?

CR, if you've ever dined at Benihana, there is an odor that sticks to you for days afterwards. Maybe that's Aoki's smell? It's like onions and sweat.

Ahh!!
I met Dj Aoki and The Cobrasnake AT THE SAME TIME and a post fashion show party. They were touching my shirt. I asked them to stop.

Aoki has a hot step sister Devon Aoki. And Rocky Aoki (his dad) has a story that's pretty f-in hilarious. In a Japanese b-movie sorta way. To get the whole scoop, read the New York article.

what is funny is that when the kills were just starting out i used to go to a lot of their shows. aoki would sell their merch. i had no idea who he was other than he sold merch. so that's what we called him, "merch boy" little did we know he was really "kid heir millionaire posing as poor little merch boy"

Dear Copyranter:

I write to you in the fervent hope that you will consider nominating Steve Aoki for Gawker's Douchebag Hall of Fame. Owing to the obscurity that clings to me like some inexplicable fog and that prevents my being recognized, or even seen, by the esteemed editors therein, I lack commenter privileges and so cannot do it myself.

Thanking you for your consideration and with all etc.,

Your Admirer, Mrs. W.

CR: With all the crap out there, you decide to go with obscure neighborhood billboards, references to the nobody children of self-absorbed fastfood moguls, and 1934 Bud ads.

Aren't there bigger balloons to skewer?

Or can we look forward to CR commentary on the beer posters in your bodega's grimy window (accompanied by a cell phone photo), something on Dave Thomas's kids, and the ol' tired-but-true Chesterfield ads from the 1950's?

Son, you need to step it up a notch.

OK, Father.

Seriously Dad, you've got adfreak and adrants for your mainstream ad commentary.

Just because the Aoki Balloon may not seem big now who's to say it won't be in the future? It's far more important to investigate with a critical eye the seemingly small and insignificant matters that we so readily digest. There is a lot of crap out there, we know that, but someone might overlook the blatant production of a psuedo subculture for the purpose of selling a jacket as being harmless. In other words shut-up dad!
