Also: advertising, advertising people, PR people, marketing people, salespeople, real estate people, journalists, lawyers, doctors, Streeters, i-bankers, midtown, the Upper East Side, the Upper West Side, going to Brooklyn, fake blondes, real blondes, saline implants, silicone implants, Civil War enthusiasts, Republicans, Democrats, Liberals, Conservatives, fireworks, parades, Summer, Winter, greeting cards, stuffed animals, children's drawings, video games, religions, personal trainers, golf, golf courses, golfers, polo shirts, turtlenecks, scarves, The Yankees, Yankee fans, mooks, Carson Daly, the Hamptons, Hoboken, people who don't know how to walk in NYC, Moby, TV, Radio, Magazines, Newspapers, stand-up comedy, Improv comedy, sketch comedy, "alt" comedy, Readings, poetry slams, SUVs, PCs, drinking straws, weddings, Brunch, fondue fountains, chick peas, Starbucks coffee, Candace Bushnell, Amy Sohn, Don DeLillo, Chuck Klosterman, screenwriters (dicks), short men (Napoleon Complexed turds), Jason Binn, men named Jack, Dr. Phil, Scrabble®, people who don't hate anything. More spaces to facilitate the smoke-flow.
I'm old enough to remember the spot with William Talman [Hamilton Burger on the Perry Mason TV series] talk about how he would never see his daughter grow up because he had lung cancer from his smoking. That was powerful & scary.
The best chilling TV ads on this topic that I've ever seen were those about Pam Laffin, a young mom who died of emphysema. She allowed herself to be used as a bogeyman(woman?) to scare people about smoking. They were creepy and well-done.

Imagine seeing that spot with the sound off on a 50 inch plasma.
Also noteworthy is that the video thumbnail in this post is plastered on something like 25% of all cigarette packages (the other 75% get pictures of decapitated toes, freaky eyes, etc.).
