Israeli Bookstore Blasts Blondes.

(click ad for closer look)
Tzomet Sfarim, the largest book shop chain in Israel, promotes themselves at the expense of flaxen-haired females. Fine by me, but how do you dumb blonde bimbos feel about this misogynistic ad? Buffeted (look it up)? Bemused (look it up)? Blondes often represent "stupid" in advertising. Heck, they're the only women the idiotic Balvenie Weenie® ever stands a chance with. (image via)

Are you sure that's not suppposed to represent an Arab head-dress, making this a "hate-ad"?

I believe the initial version of this ad said "Anyone can read. Except Palestinians."

And then someone said "Such subtlety will never fly! Palestine is not a sovereign nation!"

"Ok, how about blondes? They're dumb, right?"

maybe it's more like they're trashing America. How many blonds are there actually in Israel

It definitely conjures up images of a burqa. I tend to agree with steve about the number of blondes in Israel.

These are the four most ignorant comments in the history of your blog. It's clearly a slam on blondes, not a "headdress" as you call it. And there are plenty of blondes in Israel -- ever seen a Russian?

Perhaps it's intended to be offensive to a larger group, but as a blond woman, I'm not bothered. It's a cheap ad for a business I've never heard of.

Lieseldenver.
You obviously are not spending enough time here.

There have been much more ignorant things said.

I'm here a lot, I just don't comment. But yeah, you're right, I don't read the comments enough I guess.

Yeah, sorry, but there's tons of blondes in Israel; and not every Israeli hates Palestinians.

Actually, if you *actually go there and talk to real live Israelis* you'll find that most feel sympathetic towards them. But, well, they were there first, too....

Oh but lieseldenver, then they would have to acknowledge that sexism and misogyny exist! And that pointing them out and working towards doing away with them matters! We can't have that So pretty much any time you see someone point out an example of sexism or misogyny, the first comments they get are ones asserting that it's not sexism or misogyny but something else.
Anonymous number 1 gives an excellent example of the mentality going on; religious or racial bigotry is hate. Sex-based bigotry is not hate... for some reason probably having something to do with an affinity for dumb blond jokes.

You're all a bunch of racists.
This ad is bad, but is in no way directed against Arabs.
You see things that are convenient for you, instead of judging creativity.
