Well? How would you sell "designer ice cream" to women?

(click ads, via) I honestly don't know whether to coo or boo at these Dali-esque executions for Kapiti designer ice cream via New Zealand and Colenso BBDO. The art direction is beautiful. But, the visuals are...kinda unappetizing, yes? Especially the pump—it makes me think of hot stinky feet. This is the same kind of problem I had with viewing these cool/gross Dill's digestive pills ads. I guess I—begrudgingly—give the creatives a sticky thumbs up.

it doesn't make me crave for ice cream, but like you said, the art direction is beautiful.

Is this reverse sexism? Are they targeting women for any specific reason? They have "designer" jeans, too, and ties.

Tasha, there's also a version with a melting watch:

which looks like it could be a men's watch, but I wasn't sure.

Ok, the watch one I kind of like, maybe because the colors are more appetizing, possibly reminiscent of chocolate (they do have gold flakes on chocolate sundaes, after all). And no idea if it's a men's or women's watch, but a "watch" as an object is fairly gender neutral (men's watches are considered a fashion statement for women to wear).

So, ignoring the shoe and purse, I approve.
