(click ad, via) I think they're referencing the 'ol starburst sale price design element, loathed by highfalutin' art directors everywhere. I think that's what they're doing. That is not Photoshopped, that is makeup. By makeup artist Kabuki.

Ranter, the Kabuki comment was a joke! Kabuki is a world renowned celebrity makeup artist. He did Katy Perry's makeup for her E.T. video.

Still, that is makeup in the ad, with some retouching in PS.
