Tech ad sinks to new low.
Jay Boucher forwarded this ad posted yesterday on Feministing. It appeared in the August issue of Linux Journal. I've really got nothing to add to what Cara had to say about it, other than—here's the qsol website. Go give them your feedback
update: as highjive points out in the comments, their logo now looks, um, obscene, too.
previously in exploitation:
1 Iwo Jima icon exploited.
2. Exploiting patriotic icons.
3. You've cum a long way, baby.
4. Naples Lumber's blow job ad.
5. Campari. Racks of Booze.
6. The true.com thread.

Insult your customers, what a sound strategy! It's especially funny because everyone knows that people who purchase computer hardware are physically unattractive and socially inept. Now excuse me while I go repair my glasses with some masking tape. Has anyone seen my pocket protector?
Yuck.
Lighten up guys.
This clearly falls into the "so bad it's funny" category. And given the 99% male audience of a book like Linux Journal it's probably more effective than all the ads in there with pictures of Old Faithful and a headline that says "Reliable..."
Not saying I wish I'd done it, or that I'd approve it. Or even that I wouldn't start throwing things at the team that presented it to me. But...
I went to their site and in the press/ad section there is nothing new since November of last year. Haven't read a Linux journal in a long time but several years ago there were a lot of ads with double entendres using the word rack. Is there something that can be done? Is there no hope? Prolly not...
is don rickles jr. a copywriter or something
the company logo suddenly looks obscene too.
They've run it before and promised not to run it again: From way back in 2000
Have you seen the one they did with a woman's ass in really tight jeans in front of a rack of servers with copy that reads: "Are Your Backend Systems Penetrable?"
Neither have I. But I'd like to.
This ad is so awful that no one noticed the proofreader sucks, too.
I like it!
What do women want? They want to be a sexual object. They're shocked! shocked! at being taken for a sexual object. They want to be independent. They want to be taken care of. They want to give blow jobs. They don't want to give blow jobs. Aaargh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sucky and puke-making!
*looks concerned*
Man, I can't help thinking that this made it through copywriters, designers, creative directors AND the client.
Get your minds out of the gutter.
