Middle Eastern Ad Watch: WTF, Diet Pepsi?

(click ad, via) Unpimp your body? That's a strap-on man-gut? Or a woman just self-aborted? Why unpimp? Unplump, I could understand (though, every person I know who drinks diet soda is fat). Even "Pimp Your Body" would make more sense. I NEED THIS INSANITY EXPLAINED TO ME NOW, Impact BBDO, Egypt (the responsible ad agency). Previously in Middle Eastern Ad Watch:
Arabic Scooby-Doo.
• Unauthorized Hulk-vertising.
• Homoerotic Coke commercial.
• Soccer Ball solves West Bank crisis.
• MTV Dubai—chewing gum=fucking.
• the most obscene use of scrunchies ever.
• And, two examples of overt sexism, one, two.

I see your "Unpimp" and raise you McDonald's infamous "I'd Hit It" campaign from a few years back.

According to Urbandictionary, "unpimping" means: To destroy something that has been overly accessorized. - and remember VW did a series of "unpimp my ride" tv spots a couple years ago where they restored overly customized cars to factory-stock austerity.

So I guess the intended message here is that your gut is an "accessory" that can be "removed" through the power of diet soda... or something like that?

Hard to believe this one made it past the brainstorming stage.

Pretty good! Your explanation needs to run on the ad in birdseed type along the bottom, asterisk after the headline.

Bizarre on so many levels.

I don't want to lose any sleep over this weighty issue, but, shouldn't the gut-free diver be floating like a feather instead of sinking like a stone in the sea?

I love how the "gut" is a skinny woman just pushing it out. They couldn't even find a person with a "real gut". The woman who owns that "gut" would be under 115 lbs. Nice work Pepsi.
