Quebec AIDS coalition appeals to materialistic Gays.

(click ads) The press note accompanying these ads for the Quebec Coalition Against AIDS (COCQ-Sida) reads: "The campaign focuses on objects highly appreciated by homosexuals, using evocative symbols to offer the target audience a different take on the issue." A different take, indeed! That take being...highly insulting? "Please wear a condom for me, lover. If not for me, then do it for my Mini." Poor asphyxiated Chihuahua. Ads by Montreal agency Marketel. (images via) previously in AIDS ads: Mick and Madonna's alleged sex lives. MTV's old-timey porn AIDS ads. Sarah Silverman's leaked World AIDS Day song. Ken Cole's insipid AIDS ads, one two. LEAKED? Sarah Silverman's World AIDS Day song?

(click bottom image to read the silly lyrics)
December 1st is World AIDS Day
—And in the works, according to an anonymous tipster, is the above Sarah Silverman song called Happy AIDS Day, Anyway—a song that anon says would be part of Gap's (PRODUCT) Red campaign. OK, even though Silverman is part of the new general Gap campaign, there's no way in Hell Gap would ever run all or part of this as a TV spot, though I could definitely see her singing it on her show. The tipster also says this project may have been put on hold, and examining the lyrics, I can see why. If you don't feel like clicking and reading the whole song, here's a couple sample stanzas:
I'm not black
I'm not gay
And Africa is so far away
But what's one more December holiday?
Happy AIDS Day anyway
and,
AIDS is a gift
that keeps on giving
Give (RED) gifts
And stop regifting
Help African kids get drugs
(SHOUT) But not for tripping!
Happy AIDS Day anyway

(nsfw) VaginaVertising.

(click ad) H-I-Very racy ad for LILA, a national Italian organization fighting for the rights of AIDS/HIV patients. "It could happen to everyone." OK, so, ad's making two points, I guess? Women get AIDS, too? And sticking the P in the V could mean HIV? Whatever, that's some pretty freaky retouching of the woman's vaginal valley to make that capital "V." And I don't really know what partially showing her nipples accomplishes (image via). Previous VaginaVertising: Tom Ford. The Kotex Beaver. Absolut Vagina. Previous AIDS awareness ads: MTV. Kenneth Cole is for getting AIDS.

This amfAR bus poster is, of course, supposed to read "WE'RE FORGETTING AIDS" with a secondary read of "WE'RE GETTING AIDS" to remind everybody that HIV is still spreading. Buuut, can't it also read "WE'RE FOR GETTING AIDS" as in amfAR supports the spread of disease? This is what happens when you allow hack punster Kenneth Cole, who promotionally owns AIDS, to do your ads. It's just another lost battle in the war on words for the worst copywriter in the history of advertising (yes, he indeed writes the lines himself). He's even had pun with the homeless. (thanks to Jessie Birks for the tip) update: how do you read the ad? go to polls boutique to vote.

There Are A Lot Of FishDicks In The Sea.

(click ads for closer looks) That's the most penis heads (L) I've ever seen in an ad. These AIDS prevention ads via France just won a bronze medal at Cannes. The illustrations are wonderful, though the female version is the much more inventive of the two. Compared to Ken Cole's asinine AIDS prevention ads, these are golden. related: Sarah Silverman's leaked World AIDS day song lyrics for a never-produced Gap commercial.

LAMPS SCREWING.

(via) It's for World AIDS Day via MTV's Staying Alive. And, you'll learn, lamps don't need condoms, because lamps don't get AIDS. How enlightening. Why lamps? Why not...staplers or corn holders or traffic cones or contact lenses or bird houses or coffee filters or... Previous Staying Alive ads: (nsfw) Pube Posters.

Swedish AIDS organization wants you to F*ck & Tell.

(click ads) It's racy AIDS awareness ads day on copyranter. Above are a couple of teaser ads for Lafa, a Stockholm AIDS prevention program. They're handing out 100,000 numbered condoms this summer, with the hope that dirty sexy Swedes will tell their amorous tales online, Penthouse letters style. The wedding party ad is the strongest of the series, though I do like the hat-size subtext going on, left. Below is one of the :15 spots from the campaign, the rest of which can be seen here. Abstinence advocates are shitting bricks the world over.

Israeli AIDS ad features red hot horny sexxxy blood cells.

(click ad, via) Gather around Boy and Girl creatives, it's that extra happy special fun time on copyranter: Art Directors Gone Wild! "Keep the sex out of your blood. Use a condom." Without getting into a deep discussion of the awkward semantics of that headline, or the scientific inaccuracy of this dramatization, those heavy breathing blood mouths are fucking disconcerting. (NSFW) AIDS awareness quickies.

Two of five new "Stop AIDS" commercials you will never ever see in the US, created by Euro RSCG Zurich for the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health. Hmm. Here's what I think: these spots sell hot sweaty quickies much more effectively than safe sex. In fact, I'm going to fuck my art director bareback in the ass on the conference room table as soon as I finish typing this post. Here's the accompanying lovelife Website, if you care (The spots are on YouTube, but not for long. I downloaded them from here). Previous AIDS awareness videos: the faux Hitler sex tape. Today in SpermVertising.

(click ad, via) If you have AIDS, your evil spermatozoa have skull heads. This, according to Rice & Fish, a Paris sushi restaurant. Sorry for the bad scan. The copy reads: "Rice & Fish finds its own way to prevent and fight against AIDS: by giving its clients condoms for free." The headline refers to the population of France. I don't know where this ad ran, but after seeing it, eating raw fish would be about the last thing I'd want to do.

(sorta NSFW) Hair of the infected dog.

(click ads to see if you can find your name in the pubes) Brazilians are apparently not popular in Belgium. Poster ads promoting Staying Alive, MTV's global HIV and AIDS awareness and prevention campaign. Previously, the foundation questionably used chewing gum as a metaphor for casual sex. Now, graphic reminders that our love lives are tangled webs of woo (and maybe, woe). Funny note: someone at either MTV or Antwerp ad agency Duval Guillaume is a racy rascal—In the male ad, you'll find the name "Diddy" at about 10 o'clock (images via).

(click ad, via)
Fuck Fay Wray, I'm a big hairy gay ape.
The tip of the Empire State Building is certainly pretty gross, so good move snapping on the Magnum® XXXXXXXXXXL. AIDES, the French safe sex nonprofit, continues with their new questionable cartoon campaign (previously: Charlie the Trouser Snake [stupid] and the AIDS sex park [fun]). I have no idea where the ads are running. Playboy? Highlights? If you've seen them in the real world, please let me know. Ad agency: Goodby Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco.

New AIDES "Sexy Fingers" video is sexy, groovy (nsfw).

Whoever greenlights the advertising at AIDES, the French AIDS support organization, has great taste. Today, we're reminded that it only takes a finger to get down, and to get an AIDS test. C'mon, do some ugly white boy bad dancing with me. Yeah. That's it. Robot. OK, stop. Ad agency: JWT, Paris.
Previously the organization did these other wonderful ad things: this sex park poster • these trippy sci-fi posters • and the funny animated graffiti penis.

Kenneth Cole owns AIDS.

Evidently, because of his involvement with the AIDS cause, junior copywriter Kenny Cole thinks it is now his inexorable right to profit off of the disease by slapping disease-y punlines on all of his product ads. FYI: I didn't crop off any copy from the ad; the headline and Kenny's signature are the only words on the page. Also, nice touch Ken using blotchy bloody type (click image). Subtle!

2. Cole's puns are re-hyphen-tarded.

Well, here's a pretty effective AIDS awareness spot.

(via) It's about Zimbabwe, via ad agency D’adda, Lorenzini, Vigorelli, BBDO, Milan, Italy, created for this organization. Being the brilliant ad man that I am, I saw the ending coming almost immediately. But it still held my attention to the end. Just a monumentally tragic situation in Zimbabwe and Africa.

(nsfw) MTV's old-timey porn AIDS awareness ads.

(click ads) "Except for AIDS, nothing has changed" reads the dubious, strategically-placed headline on these flaccid attempts at shockvertising via MTV Brazil. The Maddens. Lots of Tats. Lots of Causes.

Anything that keeps the Good Charlotte boys away from the recording studio is pretty OK by me. Reportedly, they are also against infecting young seals with AIDS, and the clubbing of AIDS-infected youths. They'd also like to make it clear that the sandwiches they club must be vegan. NO bacon. Then and only then, will the Maddens smash the shit out them—using recyclable clubs—with all their faux-punky anger & might.
