(spoof) Gillette introduces new 80-blade razor.

The MagmaCore Extreme, each blade "thinner than a single atom." It's actually a teaser video for Gillette's new Fusion Proglide—which still has "only" five blades.
James Nunn, brand communications manager at Gillette, says: "There is invariably a degree of cynicism regarding the number of blades when we launch a new razor, so this time we've decided to embrace the cynicism by humouring ourselves...we will not be adding more blades."
The video is neither humorous nor well made, but it is slightly refreshing to see a razor company not take itself so dead fucking seriously.

Gillette paints/shaves a big stupid 2,800 square meter Roger Federer field face.

(via) Big stupid "world's biggest shave" stunt for the Gillette Fusion ProGlide, tied to Wimbledon (started today). The big stupid stunt involved laser-guided robots, environmentally-friendly paint, and biodegradable foam. Gillette says they enlisted its facebook fans to help complete the big stupid stunt. What stupid people they must be. Video below. Go Nadal! Previously: big stupid Federer relaxing in one of his stupid Credit Suisse ads. Gillette's Pubes Towels Win Cannes Bronze Lion.

(click images, via) BBDO Germany claims they placed "thousands" of these custom towels in parks and other public grassy areas all over Germany ahead of the summer season to prompt Deutschlanders to shave (and nick) their nether regions. The stunt just won the agency a Media Bronze Lion for "best use of ambient media, small scale." Mildly clever.
But, I'm thinking what maybe happened was "a few" of the towels were placed in a park near BBDO's office, and quickly photographed? Nah. I'm sure, like usual, Cannes thoroughly vetted this effort to confirm its authenticity.

Russian Ad Watch: Happy with your razor, ladies?

(via) Third video in a "viral" series for Gillette's Venus razor. The first one, which featured a sexed-up boyfriend falling out a window to his maybe death, was better. The series won a Silver Drum at last month's Drum ad awards in Slovenia. Again, not really noteworthy/creative other than that it's pretty radical for a P&G brand.

Alert Guinness! World's Smallest Ever Ad.

This claim is being verified by Guinness World Records, according to the agency.
To promote their Proglide blades, Gillette wrote a campaign on a man's shaved whiskers. The ads are 100 microns in size. Blown up versions were turned into a print and poster campaign. Also, according to the agency press note: "The actual hairs were then placed in men's bathrooms at airports where they would typically freshen up. With the hairs was a QR code through which people could access extra content showing what was on the hair."
So! That happened. Video below. Ad agency: CLM BBDO France. Previously:

• world's smallest ever Guinness beer ad.

Shave your legs or you'll kill your boyfriend.

(via) Blind online video with a sign-off url, school-of-date.ru, that takes you to a Russian website for the Gillette Venus shaver. It won an award at last month's Prague International Advertising Festival. Low pages views, so it hasn't gone "viral." I'm only posting it because it's pretty racy and dark for a P&G brand.

Something I don't want to see in the NYC subway: a gas mask warning.

(click images, via) Gothamist already covered this end-of-summer New York City subway car takeover campaign from Gillette deodorant and bodywash, but this post is for my millions of national and international readers.
I spotted these on the A train a couple weeks back, and was a little surprised they were approved by the MTA. Ha, YES, very funny: Official looking gaseous warning posters erected inside what is quite possibly the next bombing/gassing targets for Al-Qaeda terrorists. Plus, as anybody who's ridden the subway for the past 25 years will tell you, the cars smell like fucking botanical gardens these days, comparatively speaking.
Am I being too sensitive? Yes, of course. But this is what I do as this copyranter character: find fault with everything.
Previous ill-advised subway ads:

• Chicago: spuds for C.H.U.D.s.

The largest 3-D street art ad ever by Reebok.

In London, for the new CrossFit trainer. Artists last week created the largest piece of 3-D street art ever (over 1,000 square meters), garnering Reebok not one but two Guinness world records. I don't like 3-D street art, but it's kinda cool looking, I guess. Compare it to the Guinness-confirmed smallest ad ever—100 microns—etched on a whisker by Gillette. Previous street ads:
